Written Test

The written Firefighter Exam takes approximately 2 hours to complete.  The exam is multiple-choice or true-false format and is made up of three (3) separate sections:

Section 1:

Listening Comprehension (ability to comprehend what you have heard)

Section 2:

Reading Comprehension (ability to read and apply what you have read), and

Section 3:

Mathematics (ability to do basic math functions)

Each section is administered and timed separately.  Specific instructions are provided at the beginning of each section.  This test will determine your ability to read and solve basic problems and will not assess your knowledge of firefighting practices.  You need at least a score of seventy (70) for each section in order to receive a passing score for the written examination.

Your score is based on the total number of correct answers, so try to answer every question on the exam.  This means there is no penalty for guessing, so respond to every question, even if you are not certain of the answer.  When you are not certain, make your best guess and move on to the next question.

Note:  No calculators or any electronic device is permitted at the test site.
