Travis County ESD No. 2/Pflugerville Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. Base Compensation:  $51,193 – $60,191 annually (based on an starting hourly rate of $17.58)
Upon Paramedic credentialing, $60,000 annually (based on an hourly rate of $20.67)

I. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 18 years of age
• Eligible for employment in the U.S.
• Valid (not expired) Texas driver’s license
• High school Diploma or GED certificate
• Valid EMT-Paramedic certification from either the Texas Department of State Health Service or National Registry
• Valid ACLS certification, PALS certification

** Employment contingent upon receiving Basic Firefighter certification from TCFP upon completion of the District’s recruit academy.**

II. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Participate in department-sponsored physical training to maintain adequate physical condition to perform job duties.
• Must pass an NFPA 1582 Medical Evaluation with drugs screen
• Must pass NFPA 1582 Occupational Fitness Evaluation
• Must pass NFPA IAFF/IFCA Candidate Physical Ability Test

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:

  • DSHS EMT-Paramedic Certification/License
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate

• Applicant’s criminal history and driving record will be reviewed and may or may not disqualify a candidate for future consideration depending on job-relatedness, date of the incident, and severity. 2.) Pass the District’s standard written comprehension exam.
3.) Pass the District’s Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
4.) Successful completion of a panel interview.

Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 8:00 a.m. – District’s Standard Written Comprehension Exam

The written exam will take place at the Pflugerville Fire Department Conference and Education Center (CEC) located at 201 B East Pecan Street, Pflugerville TX, 78660.

Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)

Successful completion of a test after Orientation #1 or time practice will be counted as successful completion of the CPAT portion of the testing process and candidates will not have to test further. Failure of a timed practice will not count against participating candidates.
The CPAT will be held at the Pflugerville Fire Department Training Field located at 18412 Cameron Road, Manor TX, 78653.

Orientation #1 – Saturday, June 26, 2021, following the written exam

Orientation #2 – Saturday, July 10, 2021

Timed Practice #1 – Saturday, July 24, 2021
Timed Practice #2 – Saturday, August 7, 2021

Final Test – Saturday, August 21, 2021 

*Candidates that successfully completed a timed practice will not have to participate in the CPAT on the Final test day

Candidates must wear long pants compatible with physical activity for the orientations, practices, and test day. All other protective equipment will be provided by the department.
