Classification: Regular, Full-time, Non-exempt

Position Summary:
This position provides direct and indirect EMS Operations training of all Travis County ESD#2 personnel;  provides direct ALS and BLS training during training academies, during the field training of new employees, provides ALS and BLS training to employees, and participates in management of credentialing for ALS department personnel.  The FTC collects, compiles, interprets, and disseminates information from daily performance reports of employees within field training.   When not involved in direct field training, responsibilities include assisting in the in-service of new equipment and technology, continuing education, remedial training, assists with EMS Quality Management (QM) duties and tasks, and serves as a clinical resource for staff.  Additionally,  the FTC may be occasionally required to perform the functions of a credentialed paramedic in daily operations or other duties, as assigned.  This position is not subject to the uniformed personnel’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and is under the standard policies and procedures for employment under the District.  

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Physical Demands:

  • Participate in the District’s physical assessment programs that are applicable to the FTC’s required duties
  • Candidates must be able to pass a district administered physical fitness assessment to meet the following minimum requirements:
    • Pushups – 7 pushups at a rate of 80 bpm
    • Side Planks: Hold a 60 second plank on each side 
    • 1.5 mile run: Perform an 8 MET calculated performance.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Default hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., though flexibility may be available as to how the 40 hours per week are completed. Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required as job duties demand.  

Travel:
There are no residency requirements for this position. The FTC will regularly commute between District facilities, typically within 20 miles or less, driving organization provided vehicle.  Opportunities for training out of town or state will occasionally be available and/or required.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Eligible for employment in the U.S.
  • Posses a valid Driver’s License and eligible to obtain Texas Driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED Certificate
  • Valid National Registry or Texas Department of State Health Service Paramedic Certification
  • At least 5+ years of experience as a full-time Paramedic provider in a 911 service system; service must be within the previous 36 months
  • Associates Degree, or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Substantive Instructional experience
  • Eligible to credential as an ALS provider within the TCESD#2 system within a defined period after hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in a 911 service delivery system; Critical care experience and qualifications preferred
  • EMS Instructor; ALS Coordinator preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred

Compensation: $74,312 – $99,251 DOQ/E
