Summary

The Technology and Application Coordinator is responsible for website administration, managing all electronic record keeping systems to include fire & emergency medical response records administration. Uses advanced skills and broad knowledge of business functions, HTML, CSS, PHP, SQL, jQuery and WordPress to develop, implement and configure the District’s internal and external website and support software systems.

Essential Functions

Duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following (but not limited to):

  • Maintain District internet & intranet websites
  • Identify database requirements; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems
  • Create and prepare reports
  • Develop and deliver training for technical applications
  • Provide high quality customer service; prepare users by conducting training; provide information; resolve problems
  • Maintain and recall legacy data in accordance with policy
  • Provide information by answering questions and requests
  • Administer software and be the subject matter expert for District technology applications
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications, operational staff and external vendors to ensure database and application integrity and security
  • Create accounts for all users and assign security levels and controlling access permissions and privileges
  • Maintain liaison with the District’s information technology vendor(s)
  • Implement new systems and applications in accordance with project scope and timeline
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Must possess following required KSAs and experience and be able to explain, demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodation, that essential functions of the job can be performed.

  • Knowledge of database design principles
  • Knowledge of IT policies, procedures and security requirements
  • Knowledge of structure query languages
  • Knowledge of process models and data flow diagrams
  • Knowledge of user interface and user experience (UI/UX) best practices
  • Knowledge of advanced WordPress configuration, SQL, PHP, HTML, Linux, CSS, jQuery, Apache, Windows 7-10, Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere) computer networking and most report writing software
  • Knowledge of responsive web design principles
  • Skill with computers and IT systems
  • Skill in documenting and maintaining application and process information
  • Skill in providing system/application administration
  • Skill in selecting and using training methods and procedures appropriate to the situation

Physical Demands

This job operates in an office setting. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing may be required. Position also requires walking throughout District building onsite and occasionally building offsite. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, or
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position of a minimum 40-hour week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Ability to commute between operational locations, within 20 miles or less, driving organization provided vehicle.

Required Education, Knowledge and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Technology (experience may substitute)
  2. Knowledge of advanced WordPress configuration, SQL, PHP, HTML, Linux, CSS, jQuery, Apache, Windows 7-10, Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere) computer networking and most report writing software
  3. Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality
  4. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Access
  5. Excellent inter-personal and communication abilities and problem-solving skills
  6. Maintain a class “C” Texas vehicle drivers license

Compensation:  Starting Hourly Rate: $24.41 – $30.22   DOQ/E
